About Us

Our story begins in the early Spring of 1996....

Greg and I had several mutual friends although our paths never really crossed until one day after school. (we were "making up time" for days, but thats another story) There were two sets of bleachers, one set occupied by "the boys" the other was filled with girls. The boys in their boredom begin making bets....one of which I became the victim.....

Greg approached the bleachers and got my attention by asking if I had a boyfriend....I said "no", then he asked "do you want one" and I said "not really" and he turned around and walked away......this was just the beginning of what would be come our fairy tale of happily ever after :)

Of course once all of our mutual friends heard of this encounter they immediately began their mission of getting us together ~ I was very stubborn at first, however I did not turn down the rides to the beach, or the rides home at night, nor did I avoid outings with our mutual friends where it was guaranteed that we were both invited and left alone as much as possible,  but I was pretty determined that I was not interested.....

That was until the beginning of my Sophomore year and I walk into class and there he sits.....I was screwed, there was no avoiding him, his smile, his jokes, his outspoken bluntness, or the group of friends that waited outside after class everyday to ensure we were bonding..... It was time for prom and of course there was no turning down the opportunity to hang out with all my friends that were going OR hanging out with the guy that I tried so hard not to like but had fallen in love with throughout the year!

We have had so many great times, adventures, ups & downs over the last 17 years. We are lucky to have amazing friends and family that have supported us through it all. We may not have biological human children right now but we do have two awesome fur babies that also await the arrival of human siblings!

Meet Ginger our 12 year old lab mix & Bailey our 2 year old Rottweiler :)

TIMELINE OF OUR JOURNEY.......

*I have included links for some of the words, diagnosis, medications, etc that you may not be familiar with*

1996 ~ We met

1998 ~ Greg graduates and moves back to Texas for college

1999 ~ Stacy graduates and Greg moves back to North Carolina to be with Stacy :)

2004 ~ Greg proposes to Stacy at one of their favorite vacation spots ~ Bluebend, WV

June 4, 2005 ~ Greg and Stacy are married :)

2008 ~ After months of complaining about feeling bloated and having abdominal pains a coworker personally schedules an appointment and makes Stacy see a doctor. Two days later Stacy has laparoscopic surgery for two very large cysts and scar tissue caused by Endometriosis...surgery results in loss of left ovary and cyst on right ovary was only drained to avoid damage to ovary since Stacy had stated it was her goal to have children.  (LESSON LEARNED ~ DO NOT IGNORE YOUR BODY GO TO THE DOCTOR)

2008-2009 ~ Stacy goes through 6 months of Lupron followed by 6 months of trying to conceive naturally

2010 ~ Two more smaller cysts are found on Stacy's ovary and 6 more months of Lupron is completed, as well as 3 months of birth control in hopes of suppressing the Endometriosis and cysts to avoid additional surgery

2011-2012 ~ Stacy's cysts are monitored monthly with ultrasounds, Ovulation testing is done monthly for 11 months with no results, Blood test and ultrasounds are done periodically to check for ovulation and follicle growth ~ testing is showing normal hormone levels but my follicle production was low and slow

2012 - 2013 ~ Stacy goes through 3 months of Clomid ~ all tests point to follicle stimulation and ovulation! But as of Feb 2013 still no pregnancy ~ Hysterosalpingogram is scheduled with possible exploratory laparoscopic surgery to check scar tissue and damage done by endometriosis.  It is recommended (again) that Greg get tested.

Feb 2013 ~ Greg goes for his first semen analysis ~ results show a zero sperm count :( Greg is referred to Urologist/Male Fertility Specialist ~ Stacy's doctor cancels pending procedures and places Stacy on birth control to help control endometriosis symptoms and cysts while we figure out what is going on with Greg and recommends that we begin looking into IVF, thinking that since we both have issues it would be the best route and avoid any invasive procedures or surgeries for Stacy.

April 2013 ~ Gregs first appointment with a Male Fertility Specialist ~ blood test show extremely low testosterone levels ~ Levels were at a 42 and should be well over 500 ~ Greg is prescribed Clomid

May 2013 ~ Greg starts with 25mg of Clomid daily for first month with no change in testosterone levels

June 2013 ~ Greg's Clomid is increased to 50mg daily ~ Second semen analysis is done showing no change in sperm count

July 2013 ~ No change in testosterone levels with increased Clomid, An MRI of the brain is ordered to check for tumors or other physical issues of the Pituitary Gland, MRI shows a normal Pituitary gland and no other issues.

July 29th, 2013 ~ Greg is prescribed Novarel and Repronex injections and treatment is started in hopes that these medications will jump start his hormone production.

August - October 2013 ~ Greg has his hormone levels checked monthly and they are slowly beginning to rise thanks to the Novarel and Repronex.

October 2013 ~ Greg's semen analysis shows 70 million swimmers!!! 61% motility, all forward progressing, 40% rapid, 30% normal. Stacy comes off birth controls and awaits her next cycle to start clomid....again....

November 2013 ~ Stacy did a cycle of clomid ~ no pregnancy

December 2013 ~ Another cycle of clomid ~ no pregnancy ~ appointment with new fertility clinic scheduled and cryopreservation scheduled for Greg - January 6th, 2014

January 6th, 2014 ~ Cryropreservation was completed and lots of swimmers were stored! First appointment with new fertility clinic, lots of bloodwork (prolactin, thyroid, AMH, etc)  ~ HSG testing was recommended ~ Appointment with Greg's Urologist and Greg was taken off the Novarel & Repronex to see what his body does naturally.

January 13, 2014 ~ notified that prolactin levels were high and i needed to complete a fasting prolactin test ~ AMH was low so she recommended an follicular ultrasound when the HSG was done

January 20th, 2014 ~ HSG was completed - tube is open / Prolactin fasting test done, levels were better / and the Follicular Ultrasound was done showing a follicle count of 7. So the doctor prescribed femara hoping to get a better response than clomid.

February 2014 ~ Completed one cycle of Femara - still no pregnancy

Today (March 2014) ~ we are hoping that Stacy will be able to secure employment soon, and we will decide at that time if we will attempt IUI first or just go straight to the IVF.

2015 ~ We decided it was time to proceed with an IUI attempt. One April 8th we found out it was was a big fat negative. Not sure where we will go from here.....
